Dealing with anxiety while travelling


Travelling is an exhilarated feeling for majority of people but many of us are anxious about managing things when we are to go for pleasure tour. Persons may not have travel anxiety before the trip, but they may experience such anxiety during trip. It may be due to numerous issues, such as stress of planning and dealing with trip needs. Travel anxiety is an intricate problem as many people do not realize this apprehension but experience some nervousness when they leave for trip.



There are range of causes for travel anxiety. Some people have lifetime anxious feeling for travel. For others, travel anxiety may be due to bitter experiences in past. Most prominent reason for travel anxiety is fear of flying. Factors that trigger this anxiety are the lack of control, the changes in air pressure, the discomfort, and the turbulence. People also develop travel anxiety when they hear horror stories from news sources, other people. Travel anxiety is experienced by individuals because they do not get home comfort in place where they are going.  It is human nature to be fatigued of new environs. This unfamiliarity trigger stress.

To overcome travel anxiety, visitors or travellers must plan a head for tour such as buy tickets, booking hotels in advance, purchase necessary item earlier and arrange mobile phones so that they can get connected with their family members, friends or relatives. Smooth communication is core mantra to lessen pre-trip anxiety. While going on trip, person must provide ample time for packing, and review check list. Most effective strategy to alleviate the travel anxiety is to pinpoint the causes. People use cognitive thought-stopping practices to manage the anxiety-causing items that they cannot control such as person cannot prevent unforeseen things that may cause problems on trip.

It has also been observed that when everything is organized and well planned, still people have fear or anxiety for travelling. In such scenario, it is good to focus on pleasure activities and mentally plan that everything is under control. We can lessen the anxiety level through positive outlook.
