Protect vocal card from voice disorder
Voice is media to
communicate our words to others. To create the speaking voice, 18 small muscles
in and around the larynx rapidly contract and release in coordinated way and controlled
subconsciously by brain. It has been observed many times that certain muscles
get tighten excessively while others do not work hard enough. There are many
reason for this condition such as talking when vocal cord is injured and
anxiety in the throat.
Vocal cord is not
healthy in following conditions:

When
your voice become hoarse or raspy.

In
case, you lost your ability to hit some high notes when singing.

When
your voice abruptly sound deeper.
-
In
condition when your throat often feel raw, achy, or strained.

And
when you have to make some effort to talk.
It is advised to

know the root cause of voice problem.
Causes of voice problems:

causes that create problems in vocal cord and disrupt talking or singing

respiratory infections

due to gastroesophageal reflux

and overuse of use of Vocal chord

on the vocal folds, such as vocal nodules or laryngeal papillomatosis

of the larynx

neurological illnesses like spasmodic dysphonia or vocal fold paralysis.

professionals, majority of vocal cord or voice related problems can be cured
through knowing underlying cause or through a range of behavioural and surgical
treatments.
Prevention of voice problems:
To prevent voice
problem and maintain good health of vocal cord, it is recommended to embrace
following habits:
We should drink
plenty of water. At least six to eight glasses a day is recommended.
We should also limit
to consume drinks that contain alcohol or caffeine, which can cause the body to
lose water and make the vocal folds and larynx dry.
It is good to use a
humidifier in home. This is especially important in winter or in dry climates.
Doctors also advise
to avoid or limit use of medications that dry out the vocal folds, including
some common cold and allergy medications.
Smoking is not good
for vocal cord. Smoke irritates the vocal folds.
We must eat healthy
food and avoid spicy foods. Spicy foods can cause stomach acid to move into the
throat or oesophagus, causing heartburn. In diet, we must include plenty of
whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. These foods contain vitamins A, E, and C.
They also help to keep the mucus membranes that line the throat is healthy.
We have to maintain
personal hygiene such as washing hands often to prevent getting a cold or the
flu.
Proper rest is
necessary for healthy body. Physical
fatigue has a negative effect on voice.
It is recommended to
do exercise regularly. Exercise increases stamina and muscle tone. Another
important factor is that we must avoid mouthwash or gargles that contain
alcohol or irritating chemicals.
In final analysis, we
must take preventive measures for voice protection and avoid injuring vocal
cord. To maintain health of vocal cord, we must have to follow tips recommended
by doctors.
