The time in between these two stages allows the implant to fuse to the jawbone before placing the abutment and crown. But overloading will result in rejection of implant.

Sometimes, human body rejects foreign material as in the case of any organ implant. Then the result in failed dental implant.  Allergy is also major cause of dental implant failure. Usually implant material is made up of titanium alloy. Human body rejects this due to allergic reaction and patients may complaint tingling or burning sensation that spread from the area to the cheek, tongue, chin, and lips.

Other reason for long term dental failure is smoking. Bruxism is also leading cause of implant failure. It repetitive teeth grinding or clenching can make it difficult for an implant to integrate with the jaw bone because extreme pressure on the teeth and implant and hurt the process clenching. One common reason for implant failure is Poor Oral Hygiene. If Patients don’t have sufficient bone to support an implant, there are chances of long-term failure.

Additionally, an implant may be unsuccessful because of overheating of the bone at the time of implant placement, contamination of the implant surface, or systematic problems interfering with osseointegration.
