Magnetism of horror genre in movies

Horror movies give prevue of culture and strange events that people are aware of it. This genre fascinates majority of watchers and they are thrilled from watching such movies. The intent of the horror genre is to create sensation, trepidation among the viewers.

Horror films fascinate watchers because the strange events are nicely displayed in these films. Audiences are more inclined to the blizzard happening, ghastly portrayal instead of just hackneyed love stories in which audience can anticipate what will happen next. Simply horror genre is loved by people due suspense and uncertainty in characters and events of the movie.

For example, J- horror movies have worldwide fans. Even, Hollywood directors picked up the concepts from J-horror theme and produced blockbuster horror films. The major difference observed is the intricacy of presentation of horror in movies. American horror movie producers focus on to explain self so that people know the causes of some evil creature actions. For example, popular horror film Ringu, directed by Hideo Nakata, was the first magnetism of American film producers who recreated The Ring in1998, which was produced with different name, The Ring Two in 2005.

The main feature of J-horror movies in selection of feminine character to create horrific scenes. Females are considered as key figure in the script of J-horror movies. They are always portrayed as the ghost itself and frighten viewers in striking way. It has been observed that majority of film makers from different countries like India, US are interested in female ghost because conventionally females stayed in home and submissive towards her husband and elders. Their frustration, anger, and resentment are shown in horror movies to convey sufferings of females in general. In a lively example of film, The Grudge, director has mentioned the significance of female character in J-horror.  According to director of film, women remained under supremacy of male basically by their husbands and they carried excessive rage and frustration since long time. He showed in film deep rancour and stubbornness of female to make public know the sorrow of women.

Presently film makers around the globe portray ghosts as an erratic. This was the brainchild of Japanese horror film makers to signify strange nature of ghost.

Normally, horror Films contain psychological trance and awe-inspiring tension, particularly involving ghosts and the themes of folk belief. Therefore movies with horror genre get international success.

In horror movies, film producers espouse common ghost characters such as monsters, with King Kong, a living animal which massacres human and shatters the region by the dominant physical force, wicked spirits which badly affect the possessed body to death, for example the spirit in Exotics, dead body incarnating in human form. Dracula in Vampires series, or serial killers such as Jason in Friday the 13^th are popular and hugely watched by viewers all over the world.  

In Indian cinema, filmmakers like Ram Gopal Varma, Mahesh Bhatt and Priyadarshan produce horror in Indian movies. The genre is still at an embryonic stage. Mostly, Indian horror films have been motivated from Hollywood movies. Indian film makers usually focus on the supernatural as a popular theme. Film Mahal was the oldest movies of horror genre.

Many Indian films which gained popularity with revived theme were Bhoot’, ‘Krishna Cottage’, ‘Naina’, ‘Darna Mana Hai’, ‘Darna Zaroori Hai’, ‘Click’, ‘Raaz 2 etc. Since India is the host of manifold culture therefore numerous regional horror films were produced and admired by viewers.

Finally we can land on conclusion that horror theme embraces novel but weird concepts that people love to watch it as beyond their imagination and they want to explore the supernatural psyche of characters and correlate with their past. It is widely accepted that horror movie with new and ground-breaking story and blended with technological advancement will gain huge audience attention and producers may get record high revenue. Today viewers are more fact-finding in nature and magnetize to watch interesting but logic based movies.
