 My grandparents were fond of narrating stories of supernatural entities to our parents. They frequently had long discussion with their friends that ghost haunting is a prehistoric time debate and people had horrific experience of haunted house, tree, animal or some objects. My grandfather was intelligence officer in private company and grandmother was brave lady. They had to live away from their ancestral house.

The day marked as horrifying, when my grandfather returned back from his office to home at late cloudy night and he observed that dog sitting near to his house behaved in abnormal way. Sometimes he barked ferociously and other times, it looked that he sensed something invisible image nearby. Since my grandfather had profound knowledge of animal’s overactive sense, he understood that dog had seen some supernatural entity to sense ghosts or some other paranormal activity in surrounding. My grandfather entered to house and took rest but was very restless.

Next day, at around 10 AM, my grandfather received a message from relative that his house in native place was in the process of grabbing by powerful local people. My grandfather became stressed and immediately made a plan to rush to his ancestral house. But his son and daughter in-law opposed his decision as there may be danger and life threatening scenario over there. He didn’t agree with family and took a decision to visit in his ancestral house to protect his relatives from wrongdoers.

 Same day, in evening hours, when he started from home for native place, same ferocious dog created horrifying sound. My grandmother was too worried and said that animals have intense power to sense danger and requested him to cancel the trip. Suddenly, my grandfather met with heart attack like chest pain and he fell down. All of family member rushed to hospital for immediate treatment. By the grace of God, he recovered by some small medication.

 After taking rest for few days, my grandfather had joined office. During that period, he noticed that dog was relaxed and responded him with affection. Again, a messenger came from ancestral house and handed over some legal document associated with house to my grandfather. When he read the notice, he became stand still and stunned how could it be possible? It was his hallucination or it was real incident happening. He was informed that all relatives staying there were buried in the premises of ancestral house and one dog was sitting nearby.  My grandfather was asked to visit the place to recognize the body of all relatives that were recovered from the ancestral house. He immediately rushed to native place.

When my grandfather reached to native place, same dog was sitting over there. He was again dumbfounded and thought some supernatural entity shielded him because last night all relatives were brutally murdered and buried according to police report. There was some connection with dog who sensed the threat in house where wrong act happened. Cops told to my grandfather that in ill-fated night, it seems some criminals attacked to your house to find valuable items and murdered all people. This dog ran to police station and was indicating us to follow. Finally we followed the dog and came to know the criminal activity.

 After knowing and connecting all the incidents, I am forced to believe that ghost exist. This time animal ghost protected my grandfather because same dog cannot be present in two different cities over hundreds of kilometers apart.

Life after spine slipped disc operation: personal experience

Slip disc is widespread health condition around the globe. Especially females are more affected with slip disc after delivery or when they meet with some accident or injury.

 

The spine is very important part of human body and it is made up of several small bones, known as vertebrae. Disc is placed between each vertebra which is the shape of a flattened cylinder. These discs are responsible for flexibility of spine in bending forward or backward because of strong malleable material and have tough fibrous outer part and a softer jelly-like part in the centre named as the nucleus pulposus. It is observed that back pain is common symptom among people and slip (prolapsed) disc is major cause of this pain between 30 to 50 years.

Slip disc occurs when one of the disks ruptures (herniates) or stretches between the bones and presses on nearby nerves. When person suffers from slipped or prolapsed disc he/she complains pain, numbness, and weakness in back, legs, or arms. These symptoms may lessen with rest, medication, and physio therapy. Slip disc operation is very complicated operation and to prepare a patient is also a daunting task.

In real life scenario, I went through slip disc surgery over 20 years back. There were multiple reasons for this disastrous condition as I travelled with old vehicle and experienced bumps which injured my disc to great extent and became prolapsed. The operation was done because all other physio therapy, medication or rest didn’t relieve from pain. I had to suffer severe pain, numbness in right toes and upper side of leg. I constantly felt radiating pain in right legs which was not relived from any type of pain killer. Another disastrous symptoms was misaligned body posture. My body posture was bent towards right side and I had difficulty in walking due to nerve compression. During that time, it was horrendous feeling and I felt that I will never come up with this medical condition. At the same time, I thought that I should make efforts to revive from such horrible state and support doctors to diagnose properly and take good decision about the treatment. These positive approach worked. My Neurosurgeon in AIIMS Delhi decided to go for herniated disc surgery because majority of nearby nerves were compressed by prolapsed disc (L5S1) which had lost elasticity.

I had gone through surgery that was successful and when I was in ICU, all paramedical staff took great care of me. It was really a challenging surgery for surgeon. Surgeon recommended two months bed rest and did not allow moving out of the city. I followed and results were great. My pain and weakness was improved but numbness was still there in toe. Physiotherapist recommended some exercise which I am doing on regular basis to retain my health. Doctors explained some precautions such as avoid Lifting heavy objects, long sitting, bend or stretch too much, do not use stairs regularly, always choose front seat in vehicle, eat low fat and rich vitamin diet and drink milk regularly. Though sometime I ignored precautions so numbness increased but resuming exercises and diet, I made my health condition better.

Presently, I do regular household work, give home office sitting, going to social celebration in safe way, and sometimes use public transport also. The life after prolapsed disc is not bad but I adhere to medical advice of Doctor.

It should be attended immediately so that exercise and medication help to reduce the sudden, severe lower back pain caused by a 'slipped' (prolapsed) disc. Slipped disc often presses nerve root which give rise severe pain and numbness in legs and toes. In slipped disc, majority of cases, symptoms gradually decreases with exercise or medication. Disks act as a shock absorbers, and person can bend and move without bones rubbing together. If condition is worse due to slipped disc, doctors suggest surgery.

Monkeypox is an uncommon medical syndrome akin to smallpox. It happens due infection with the monkeypox virus. People get infected with Monkeypox when they come into contact with an infected animal or a person. It can be spread from Animal to person through broken skin, such as bites or scratches, or through direct contact with blood of an infected animal’s bodily fluids or sores. Person to person infection of Monkeypox virus is rare.
