Are dreams grounded in reality?



People are curious about dreams they see. Simply, dreams are beliefs, emotions and the images formed by them, which can be construed while sleeping. It is well said by intellectuals that dreams exhibit inner or hidden cravings of an individual. People see dreams when their feelings and memoirs are being rationalized during sleep. Dreams transform mental representation of person. Dreams usually occur during the REM (rapid eye movement) stage of sleep



When appraising speculative aspects of dream, it is well demonstrated that different psychologists have expounded the dream in own way. Famous psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud had suggested that dreams are powerful media of person's expressions of his/her unconscious desires. He further elucidated that dreams are an attempt to satisfy sexual and aggressive impulses that we cannot satisfy when we are awake. Freud identified that bad or horror dreams equip human brain to gain control over the emotional state arise from anguish in life. On the contrary, Harvard psychologist, Barrett opined that such satisfaction in an fantasy world may not aid human to adapt their instincts to the physical world.



 Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist proposed that dreams compensate for one-sided feelings borne in consciousness. He claimed that people dream images or emotions that they never experienced because dreams are more than reminiscences. Dogmas of racial reminiscence indicated that dreams are from our distant ancestry. It has been extensively accepted by psychologists that dreams can predict future and asserted that there is a psychology reality behind this creed because human subconscious can visualise happenings that conscious mind is unable  to accept but antagonists refute this theory of dream as future is already set.



Other psychoanalysts opined that a dream expresses something that cannot be expressed outright. When elucidating the most heated topic, dream, we have numerous interpretations. Fundamentally, dreams inform people about happening and development surround us. They announce the fact that program has been introduced. In general, people do not have mental forte to interpret dream they witness. Mostly, dreams are premonitory. Up to some extent, these dreams have proximity to actuality at physical level or at emotional level. According to Activation-Synthesis Philosophy, dreams result from random activation of brain cells responsible for eye movement, muscle movement, balance, and vision. The brain then combines this activity with existing knowledge and memories as if the signals came from the environment. Mental housekeeping model denotes that while sleeping, the brain locks out sensory input so it can process what was stored in memory during the day. Dreams are momentary glimpses of the brain’s sorting, scanning and searching through memories.



Intellectuals affirmed that dreams are supportive to humans and provide good explanations to queries emerge in life. Dreams throw pure messages and are not distorted by expectations, desires, or preconceptions. Dreams are the narrative that brain articulates in different stages of sleep such as images, feelings, and memoirs that unwillingly occur during the rapid eye movement stage of nap. It has been stated by psychological scholars that people watch multiple dreams per night. While conferring about the dreams, it can be said that dreams typically involve components from waking lives which may be familiar persons or locations as well as dreams are also associated feeling of fantasy. Dreams can be shaped into fascinating events and may not be possible in real life.



When elaborating the nature of dream, it falls into five categories that include day dreaming, lucid dream, nightmare, recurring dream and Epic dream. People daydream in the stage of half awakening and related with images or experiences of past or future. People experiences lucid dream when dreamers somehow realize that it is only a dream and they will awake soon. Another type of dream is nightmare which is disturbing reverie that results in anxious or frightening feeling. Recurring dream repeat themselves with slight variations in storyline. Lastly, epic dreams are memorable and vivid which cannot be ignored. These dreams remain in human memory for long time in life.



Most of us assume that dreams end up after wakening or linked with brain activity while sleeping. There is an anonymity between dreams and physical reality. It is well settled in scientific enquiry that brain fetches data from life experiences, emotional feelings or images. Same things people witness in dream. Some instances have been observed that people witness peculiar events or procedures that they do not aware of wakening stages. Such enigmatic representation of brain propel us to believe that dreams are fusion of current reality and ancestral relations.

One philosophy posits that dreams are the upshot of human brains which endeavour to construe external stimuli during sleep. Yet another principal suggests that person while dreaming makes connections between different thoughts and emotions. Dreams may depict reality of life.
