Nursing profession has a health mission to fulfil the health needs of people
Nurse-patient relationship is
friendly relationship. Nurses help patient to lessen feelings of insecurity and
greater chances of speedy recovery.
Nursing profession focuses on
supporting clients, commune or society to preserve good health and lead normal
life. It is just like philanthropic behavior following the code of ethics.
Major contributors in this field are Hildegard Pepla, Florence Nightingale and
many others. In nursing practices, nurse-client relationship is established to
assist and treat the patient. Nurses can provide such services through
examination, description, formulation, understanding, rationale, and
involvement.
There are number of nursing roles
to clinical nursing. In counseling role, she can help client understand and
integrate the meaning of current life circumstances; provides guidance and
encouragement to make changes.
Teaching role gives instructions
and provides training; involves analysis and synthesis of the learner's
experience. There are four developmental Stages of the Nurse-Client
Relationship-Orientation Phase, Identification Phase, Exploitation Phase, and
Resolution Phase.
In our society, nurses are viewed
as high moral practitioners. This profession is progressing very fast. Nurses
provide a round-the-clock relationship with people and assist them by
performing different role.
