The Basement: Scary stairs at grand pa’s mystical house

We had a horrendous experience in my grandpa's traditional and vague house with a complex map.

Every summer vacation, we all used to visit the grand house of our maternal grandparents. They pour their affections on our all siblings. My parents always used to arrange favorite items to enjoy the vacations and leave with elated feelings.

My grandparents’ house was designed with lots of spiral stairs, hidden doors, a huge entry and back gate. There was an iron door fitted with antique locks. In grandpa’s mansion, there was a big sperate secret hall above the kitchen and store. My grandparents used that hall to keep all ancient, unused items, furniture, rejected and traditional attires, some outdated electrical items such as fans, drilling machines, switches, and beauty gadgets also. 

In that mystic villa, some horrifying elements were there in the rooms and was built in zigzag shape above the ground floor and exactly on the top of the grand living room with a long L shaped corridor near to the front garden of the house. My grandmother's big private room2 was with a dressing section behind the living room ornamented with conventional and goddess paintings. All the rooms had stairs with openings at top. But one stair that really horrified me was built adjacent to my grandma’s room and it was opened down to the basement in spiral shape. The last step of this stairs touched the floor with a dark den like tiny room and had an upside opening to the room in the first floor but not open to the sky. This stair could be used from my grand ma’s room and from the first floor also. Other stairs were all open to the sky above the first floor. There were also four bedrooms on ground floor near to side entry of house made for my mother’s siblings.  Major terrifying aspect of the house was the basement which could be connected via stairs from all rooms nestled in the ground floor separately but no one was allowed to go down in the basement without the permission of grandpa. That was the mystic and dreaded map of the house but it used to allure us in every vacation.

When I was just eight years old, my mother was invited to attend one important traditional ceremony in grandpa’s house. We all jumped with joy to visit our maternal house and spent fun hours over there. We started our journey at midnight and arrived at grandpa's house at around 8 AM in the morning. My grandma was very affectionate. She hugged us and welcomed us warmly with a great smile. We all settled over therein few minutes. On celebration day, ladies were busy in preparations for rituals and gents were managing outside arrangements to lead the function with full ecstasy and excitement. My all siblings were playing outdoor games and enjoying together with novel thrilled activities to spend good time. Since grandpa’s house had numerous mysterious spaces and hideouts that had created terror in our innocent mind, therefore we were alert to face any dreadful situation in the store room.

In the evening, a ritual was performed followed by a traditional grand dinner. We fully enjoyed the event and delicious meals served at dinner. Lately, the elders were busy settling down things as the ceremony was over. All my siblings including me decided to play “ghost camp” using hideouts, stairs and front garden for fun. We had a plan to disperse in every part of the house silently for hideouts. An eldest sibling, Kimi was assigned a duty to roam around the house to find hideouts of every sibling without disclosing their secret place to others. She was told to start her mission of finding us after 10 minutes when all were dispersed and settled in hideouts. There were no cues to start as the older members might be angry. Every sibling had a unique hideout whether it was under the stairs, in the loft or store room or in the garden. After systematic planning, we all dispersed in the house to find a place for hiding.

10 minutes had passed and Kim began her mission to find siblings one by one. In her quest, she suddenly heard a ferocious sound of a female resembling a baby birth from the basement. She got frightened and ran away to the front side garden and found the hideout of first sibling, Anna under a lemon tree in the front garden. Now Kim and Anna both started their mission to find other members of the group. They were slowly entering through the side entrance of the front corridor of the house. Both were stunned when they heard a cry of newborn babies from basement near the side door. They screamed and just turned towards the front corridor and found another member of Suzan hiding under the staircase near the side room. She also joined with Kim and Anna but they all were scared as communication was not allowed with other members as per game rule and they had to continue the game to shield others from unknown ghostly threats. They decided to enter the living room where family members were gossiping. They silently walked towards the living room and looked into the room. All the elders were enjoying and explaining their exciting moment of celebration. Kim, Anna and Suzan entered the living room and were inquired about other children from their elders. They replied, probably they have gone to sleep.  Kim, Anna and Suzan quietly moved to grandma’s bedroom where they found another member Joky hiding behind the wall-to-wall moving mirror from where the backyard can be accessed. All four were now walked towards the spiral staircase adjacent to grandma’s room. It was a challenging and ghostly game for kids because the mirror showed the breaking pieces of glass particles displaying head cross sections of newborns. May be the dreaded scenario was illusion. The scene was horrific and all kids rushed to staircase adjacent to room. Once they reached the downstairs, all the kids saw the door of the basement. They really got scared now because an interesting game is turning to horrific events. Only two children were left. 

Kim, Anna, Suzan and Joky were slowly going down to the basement stairs to search the remaining partners of the game. Basement was full of huge antique and old-style items. Suddenly, Kim had an illusion that several newborns were hanging on the roof fan. She fainted, experiencing a scary scene in the basement. Anna, Suzan and Joky found Zelia behind the steel cage kept in the basement. All rushed to Kim to make her conscious. After awakening, she said that she heard the sorrowful cry of large number of new born babies. Though, her statements were not logical but for a moment, basement was surrounded with fearful dense fog and ghostly items.  Kim, Anna, Suzan, Joky and Zelia started their mission to find the last member of the game. All have decided to come out from the basement. As they started, a painful sound came from the right corner of the basement where old paintings were kept. All ran to check whether Trancy was there. And they found Trancy in a wounded condition. Ghost camp was over. All the children were in the basement and planning to exit from the bitter scenario. They came for the first time to the basement where all the stairs of the house end in a spiral pattern. These were built in a scary shape to horrify the thieves if they attempt to enter in the house. While searching the exit gate. Kimi, who was heading the game, Ghost camp, suddenly was shocked to see one big square black patch of heavy iron on the joint of two spiral stairs. When she tried to lift a patch like iron structure, it suddenly slid and the horrific scene of several babies’ skeletons on the deep land bed terrorized kids. All the children screamed. And elderly family members rushed to the basement as they heard the cries of their kids. They were also shocked to look at the scenario and called the cops.

 All the elders were scolding the kids but at the same time, they were alerted and sensed some paranormal entity planned that event to inform the ill happening over there in the past.

Ending with horrific scene:

Cops investigated the crime spot and after unfathomable research, they informed the house owner that it was about 200 years old human skeletons. All babies were females and it was assumed that a message was tried to convey to protect females for human survival.

Landing on the projected hilly rock wrapped with milky snow, a sweet and charming young couple stunned to look at the splendor of nature but they were unacquainted of scary forces behind the spectacular prettification of surroundings. Charm is chased by vampires to suppress their envy when lived as a human. These Snow ghosts were very active when moisture-rich mountain air strikes with freezing temperatures and creates horrific images in wild trees covered with heavy snow. Icy Ghouls hunt the youngsters to tarnish their glowing beauty and weaken them in such a way that they become physically or mentally challenged.

Icy cracking route was a major turning point for icy ghouls to overpower holy spirits. So called ancestral souls were trapped under icy cracking route and couple faced severe physical injuries due to cruel attack of icy ghouls. It was not like a filmy horror scene where some supernatural forces guarded the couple. Icy ghouls won the soul war and dumped the couple in an icy valley to convert into ghosts and tried to be included in the ghouls club.

The very next day, at sunrise, a snow storm hit the mountain and icy ghouls went to their hideouts as their power may diminish on a bright sunny day. But they could not carry the couple because of losing vampire strength. Couple came out from the icy cracking route and observed that they became physically disabled. Both were crying and became very gloomy as they got the punishment without any fault. Envy was the main ground for the negative repercussions. Couple were afraid that at night, some major incident may happen and challenge their life.

Time was worst for the young couple as day hours were about to end and icy ghouls may actively and aggressively harm them. Holy souls started roaming around the couple and signaling about dangerous events. As darkness enfolded the mountain, sacred souls converted into ghostly entities clasping the couple with sharp and piercing shrubs. Couples were staggered to get hurt from noble-like entities but the truth was that they appeared as demons and constantly harmed them.

In mid dusky night, icy ghouls managed to jump from deep cracks in the mountain. All icy ghouls traveling in circular fashion where a couple was trapped by cruel entities, looked like noble souls. Icy ghouls shrewdly build the cracking path to liberate the couple from actually dreaded ghosts.  With the magical powers, icy ghouls untie the shrubs of the couple and guided them to run towards the resort where a grand and religious idol was placed to bless the devotees. But negative entities interrupted the journey and again tried to enveloped the couple. 

War between souls of these two groups became intense, Icy ghouls scanned the revolting conduct of enemy souls. They informed the couple that evil entities were annoyed with their ancestors because of their rocketing success in life and business. Such evil souls wanted to take revenge on their forefathers but due to domineering impact in the social setting, their efforts became futile. After leaving their physical body, they could not liberate and traveled in space and always visualized as horrific entities and harmed all noble persons in the world. Their focal point was this mountain.  The envy level was at pinnacle and created uproar in human life. Somehow with the support of icy ghouls, the young couple reached to resort and offered prayer with devotion. After spending a few days in the resort, they returned to their homeland but in a very depressed state. They learned a major lesson that we should put in the effort to chase the grand mission of life. But at the high point of success, we should observe the negative faces and politely deal with their emotions so that they should not override their family and offspring.
