How Edge Computing facilitate in handling voluminous data in enterprises

World is roaming to new level of technological revolution. Cluster of technologies are evolved that enable business firms to excel their productivity.

Edge computing is one of the technical enhancement in data processing. It brings the processing of data near to source that creates the data and away from cloud. Basically, Edge computing is a distributed computing structure that brings enterprise applications closer to data sources for example Internet of Things (IoT) devices or local edge servers. This closeness to data at its source have real business merits, faster insights, better response times and better bandwidth accessibility.

Multiple elements of edge computing include the fog, multi-access Edge Computing and cloudlets. Key attributes of edge computing are geographically distributed, scalable, autonomous and distributed, low latency, real time interaction and heterogonous.

Several examples of Edge computing can be cited. Autonomous vehicles operate with edge computing to reduce latency.  Edge computing is used in Internet-of-things sensors which monitor safety and security in companies. This allows data analysis in real time if there is equipment failure or maintenance. Edge computing also offers positive results in telecommunication companies.

Major disadvantage of edge computing is that it increases attack vectors. Other downtrends of this computing process is the requirement of local hardware.

Landing to evaluation, Edge computing offers real time benefits in processing the data near the source of the network. It is a wonderful evolution of nascent technologies in the realm of software. Edge computing effectively deals with the issues of response time requirement, battery life constraint, bandwidth cost saving, and data safety.
