How fear of darkness develop in children
Fear of the dark begins in childhood. It is named as Nyctophobia which is derived from Greek ‘Nyctus ‘meaning night or darkness and Phobos which means intense fear. Kids are vulnerable to fear of darkness as their brain perceives appalling images in darkness. This fear is also referred as Achluophobia. Major reasons of developing fear of darkness : According to psychologists, Nyctophobia usually instigates from a shocking experience in the past. In childhood, sometimes parents punish a child for his unwanted act and left in dark room. These situations trigger Nyctophobia.
